Your primary role is to ensure the safety and security of Ryerson s tenants, visitors and assets in a professional and courteous manner. You will enjoy regular and diverse interactions with the public, while also being expected to maintain the highest degree of professionalism and customer service.

What does a Security Guard in Toronto do?

Be a primary resource for community members to ask for directions, report any issues within the building, and request walksafes
Responsible for communicating with dispatcher and relying information to appropriate patrol staff members
Provide access control at the campus and identify and report security occurrences, violations, hazards, suspicious activities and maintenance-related issues.
Provide front line support to the Security Operations on campus
Property inspections and enforcement of property laws, client rules, and other regulations
Assist in the event of an emergency, first aid or any other intervention
Interact with visitors, customers, and the general public on a regular basis
Detect, challenge and displace unwanted people
Evacuate the building/area in case of emergency
Collect information on complaints or events
Maintain a positive, productive work environment through teamwork

Qualifications to become a Security Guard in Toronto

Minimum 1-3 years experience in the security industry
Valid Provincial Security Guard licence, First Aid and CPR Level C and basic Use of Force training
Demonstarted comprehension of the Canadian Criminal Code and Tresspass to Propert Act powers of arrest
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills and ability to problem solve
Avaliable to work various shifts (both full-time continental and part-time Saturday/Sunday shifts are available)
Must have strong customer service skills, mature attitude and professionalism
Security clearance reliability
Leadership and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
