Job Description


The Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing seeks a Director of Communications and Marketing to serve as a dynamic communications advisor for the MU Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity. This position is responsible for the development, implementation and measurement of an integrated communications and marketing strategy for the division to achieve University of Missouri priorities. This position reports to the Senior Director for Communications and Marketing in the Joint Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing and serves as part of the leadership team. This position also has reporting responsibilities to the Vice Chancellor for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity.


This collaborative leader will develop new structures, processes and practices to enable, train and encourage the team to work together to provide a multi-channel communications strategy, creative services and delivery that effectively brings awareness to target audiences.


Essential Duties


Direct the development, implementation and measurement of an integrated communications and marketing strategy to achieve leadership’s priorities.

Provide executive counsel, advice and support to the Vice Chancellor for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, as appropriate, other senior leaders to ensure high quality communications and alignment of the brand narrative for the MU Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity.

Supervise all operations of the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity communications team.

Serve as brand champion for Inclusion, Diversity and Equity and the University of Missouri and ensure consistency in tone and message across all marketing communications and initiatives.

Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and exhibit effective written and oral communications skills.

Serve as a member of the university-level Marketing and Communications group.

Engage and collaborate with other units at the university to provide cohesive messages regarding diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives.

Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external resources.

Cultivate and maintain a team-oriented and customer-focused culture that retains and attracts excellent talent.

Ensure communications for the division demonstrate inclusive language and visual presentation.

Provide guidance for communicators throughout the university to promote best practices in inclusive communications and marketing.

As a leader of the institution, this individual must conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state, and regional affirmative action plans. Other duties and responsibilities will be expected to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.


Salary


$71,900 - $145,044
